The Guardian (28/11/11) and the London Evening Standard ( 2/12/11) report the Duchy of Cornwall's appeal against the decision by the Information Tribunal to lift the 'veil of secrecy' from the Duchy's environmental activities. Following an ongoing campaign by Mike Bruton and the Preserve Port Navas Quay committe, the Duchy of Cornwall, which comprises the Prince of Wales's business interests, has been ordered to disclose environmental data from the Port Navas Oyster Unit. The decision by an information tribunal redefines the Duchy, as a public body. Mike Bruton and the committee have been campaigning under legislation which requires public bodies to reveal their environmental record. He wanted to know what environmental assessments were made by the Duchy prior to the introduction of non-native oysters in the historic beds of the Helford River. Mike Bruton was represented by Harrison Grant Solicitors and Karen Steyn and Joseph Barrett of counsel.
